Baptiste series 2, full cast, how many episodes and what happened to Julien's daughter?

Baptiste is back for a second series on BBC One and Julien is on the hunt for missing persons yet again.

With time jumps back and forth, Julien Baptiste is not the man we knew before, as it seems something happened to his daughter.

He has pushed his wife Celia away and is looking for any distraction – and right now that’s solving the case of Emma Chambers’ missing family in the Hungarian mountains.

However, when the case turns into something far more brutal and desperate, Julien must navigate a Hungarian police force he doesn’t trust and unrelenting media interest who are hungry for information on such a high-profile international case.

The cast is full of recognisable faces as well as Baptiste himself, Tchéky Karyo.

How many episodes of Baptiste are there?

There are six episodes of series two. The first aired on Sunday, July 18 and all are available to stream on iPlayer now.

What happened in series one of Baptiste?

In series one, Julien meets up with his old flame Martha Horchner (Barbara Sarafian), in Amsterdam. She is the city’s Chief of Police, and is after Julien’s help in searching for Natalie, a missing girl and the niece of Edward Stratton, an Englishman.

Baptiste manages to track Natalie down, who explained that Edward is not her uncle, but a client with whom she was working for after stealing money from a Romanian trafficking group known as the Brigada.

The detective then decides to work with Martha’s son, Neils Horchner (Boris Van Severen), a young Dutch detective, who is also Julien’s long-lost son. He turned out to be a bad-un, informing the trafficking group of Baptiste’s progress and eventually going into hiding before very publically shooting his mother dead.

Celia and Sara and the rest of the family were in hiding from the gang, but the first episode of series two does not elaborate on what has happened to Sara. That’s still to come.
