Northern Ireland’s Matt MacNabb has packed his bags and left the Love Island villa after a dramatic recoupling.
The Co Down man’s fate on the show was in the hands of fellow contestant Priya Gopaldas, as she was left to choose between him and new lad Brett Staniland on Wednesday night’s show.
Matt had his eyes on medical student Priya over the past few episodes, telling her: “We have so much in common and my whole thing in here is like, personality is number one for me, you are obviously very beautiful, but your personality is amazing and I couldn’t speak highly enough of you.
“I am very much enjoying getting to know you and I hope it continues,” but upon leaving, feels she may not have been fully honest.
Despite having to pack his bags as his time on the ITV show was over, the Downpatrick lad said he feels “proud”.

Matt said: “I feel proud of the journey I went on and I stayed true to myself. I met some amazing people there that I’ll be friends with for life. I feel very positive about the whole situation, I’m happy.
“There’s a lot of ups and downs and it helped me realise that is part of the journey. I feel really good about it and I feel like I’ve learnt a lot and I’ll take it to the outside world. It’s given a new perspective in life in that way. I truly am happy with the entire experience.”
When asked what he has learnt about himself during the experience, he added: “I’ve learnt that my principles can’t be broken. I don’t change for anybody and I stayed true to myself so I suppose resilience. I’ve definitely become a better person and I’m open to change.”
Matt said he felt an initial, good connection with Kaz Kamwi who he coupled up with during Casa Amor.
“She’s an amazing girl and I think we’re going to be great friends. The more I saw her and Tyler, they had so much of a better connection than me and Kaz had so I’m happy for both of them because they’re great people,” he added.
Previously being fond of Priya, Matt now feels she might not have been honest with him at certain times.
He told how he had a romantic connection with Kaz from the start, but also liked Millie, but didn’t want to get involved in the situation between her and Liam.
Matt said he wouldn’t do anything differently if he had to do his time on Love Island again.
“I’m a no regrets type of guy. You learn from what you go through and I’m very proud of myself and how I’ve acted and how I’ve treated people. I think the course of action I took led me to where I am now and I’m happy with where I am.”
“I’ve loved every second of it. It’s been an amazing journey and I’ve learnt a lot about myself. I really appreciate everyone at ITV and Love Island for having me on the show.”
Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
