The summertime presenter of ITV’s This Morning, Eamonn Holmes has come under fire and tweeted an apology for saying that Dr Zoe Williams’ hair reminded him of an alpaca.
Audiences were not impressed with the comment, linking it to undertones of racism.
Eamonn, talking to Dr Zoe via video link, said: “Your hair reminds me of an alpaca today… you just want to pet it don’t you, it is very alpaca-ish.”
Dr Zoe pointedly replied: “Don’t touch my hair!”

Since the comments Eamonn has tweeted his apologies, he said: “Hey everyone out there, if my attempt at being humorous with my friend @DrZoeWilliams was misjudged I am mortified and humbly apologise to anyone who was offended.”
Many viewers took to Twitter to highlight how the remarks about Dr Zoe’s natural hair can be seen as racist and offensive.
One said: “This is disgusting and Eamonn Holmes has got away with racist, prejudiced comments for far too long…”
Another said: “Eamonn Holmes is a racist disgrace @ITV What are you doing about this?”
A third added: “How does Eamonn Holmes still have a job at this point?”
And: “This is why MANY black women avoid wearing their natural hair to work…even on Zoom in the comforts of their own home. Eamonn…disgusting.”
Dr Zoe has not replied or spoken about the comment.
