BBC The Apprentice: Where is Tim Campbell and who is his replacement?

Those tuning into The Apprentice tonight might be wondering where Tim Campbell is.

The first winner of the BBC One show replaced Claude Littner for the 2022 series but will not appear on tonight’s show [Thursday, March 10] alongside Karren Brady.

Mike Soutar will be stepping in as Lord Alan Sugar’s aide instead as Tim was self-isolating during filming.

A source told RadioTimes: “Tim had been in close contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID, and although he remained negative, as per the guidance at the time of filming, Tim isolated with Mike Soutar stepping in for the episode.”

Mike has made regular appearances on The Apprentice since 2011, usually at the interview stage.

As well as confirming he would be filling in for Thursday’s episode, which will see candidates go head-to-head to create and brand a new range of baby food, Mike also announced he would be back for the interview stage next week.

“For one week only!” he said of his return on Instagram, before adding: “Well ok and next week for the interviews too.”

It comes after news of the interviews left some viewers wondering why a major task had been axed.

The classic shopping task, which sees candidates race around trying to bag specific items for the lowest possible price, hasn’t featured on the 2022 series.

Addressing this on Twitter, Lord Sugar explained: “It is a great task, but unfortunately it was impossible to pull off safely (due to Covid) at the time we filmed the tasks.” You can read more on this here.

The Apprentice continues Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
