Former I’m A Celebrity star says contestants ‘won’t get full experience in Wales’

I'm A Celebrity 2021 'chaos' as popular star reportedly quits now it's in Wales

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is returning to Wales for the 2021 series following a “highly successful run” at Gwrych Castle last year.

ITV bosses have confirmed this week that due to the “continued uncertainty” around Covid-19 and international travel, the show, which is usually located in the Australian jungle, will take place in Abergele once again. You can read ITV’s statement in full here.

Following the announcement, former I’m A Celeb contestant Fleur East, who appeared on the show in 2018, has claimed the UK location won’t be as good as the Australian jungle.

During an interview on ITV’s Lorraine, The X Factor finalist said this year’s campmates “won’t get the full experience in Wales”.

Fleur told Christine Lampard: “For me I love the show, because the concept is just genius but the jungle in Australia that’s the OG I’m A Celebrity isn’t it, really.

“I don’t think they’re going to have the full experience in Wales.”

She added: “In the jungle you’re going to bed knowing that a brown snake could be slithering underneath your hammock at night.

“I mean, there’s so many dangers that they’re not going to experience in the castle I don’t think.”

It comes after I’m A Celebrity 2021 was thrown into chaos after a popular star reportedly quit following its move to Wales.

A source told The Sun: “One popular star dropped out immediately. Bosses are still in talks with loads of top celebs about taking part and feel confident this won’t put people off given last year’s success.”

They continued that some stars won’t find “roughing it” in wet Wales as fun as doing it in the Australian jungle.

The insider added: “Luckily for bosses, the ones who have signed contracts are all still on board. And bosses have still got plenty of time to pull out all the stops when it comes to booking major talent.” You can read more on this here.
