Northern Ireland’s Matt MacNabb was at the heart of the drama during last night’s episode of Love Island as a dramatic dumping looms.
The Co Down man arrived in the villa last week just as Kaz Kamwi was left heartbroken following Tyler’s antics in Casa Amor and the pair soon hit it off.
However, on Wednesday night’s episode, Tyler admitted to Kaz that he still had feelings for her, to which she said the door for resuming their romance remains “open.”
Tyler asked: “What’s keeping it open?”
“The little feelings I have,” Kaz replied.
Tyler then admitted: “I want you back. I miss how we used to be.”
Kaz said: ‘Thank you for letting me know. It’s up to you to open that door. I’m going to keep getting to know him [Matt]. Are you up for the challenge? You’re quite competitive.”
26-year-old Matt was pulled aside by Tyler for a conversation about the incident, which comes just hours after the contestants recoupled.
Tyler said he wasn’t able to have a chat with Kaz about his feelings before the recoupling, by way of explaining their conversation.
He added: “She was just basically saying the door is slightly – not even slightly, miniscule, ajar – but she is still willing to get to know you.”
Sitting in the hideaway, Matt replied: “It kind of came out of the blue. I kind of thought it was just me and her, you know? There’s a few things I need to iron out with her.”
Matt after his chat with Kaz on Wednesday’s show
As the pair sat down to discuss where they stood in their relationship, Matt said to Kaz: “Being told through Tyler is not ideal, because it makes me think would you have actually told me?”
Trying to explain herself, Kaz said: “I just… Matt, I’ve literally just said-“
Matt interjected: “Well, are you still giving me 100%?”
“I’m going to try,” Kaz replied
Unimpressed with her response, Matt said: “Well, that’s probably not good enough like…”
“I… like… you know what, screw this for a sec,” he added before storming off saying “I need to cool down because you’re p***ing me off.”
Tonight’s episode will see four islanders dumped from the show in a brutal twist, with the boys told to save one girl and the girls given the choice to pick one boy to remain in the villa.
Tyler Cruickshank and Clarisse Juliette, Mary Bedford and Sam Jackson, and Hugo Hammond and Amy Day’s fates now lies in the hands of their fellow contestants.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
