It’s a good time to subscribe to Disney Plus if you haven’t yet – from more Marvel shows to a brand-new Sony film, there are plenty of exciting releases scheduled for your kids to enjoy this August and you don’t have to go to a cinema.

Without further ado, here are some of our picks for the best animated films and TV show coming to Disney Plus next month.
Vivo – Monday, August, 6
The film tells the story of an adorable capuchin monkey, played by musical sensation Lin-Manuel Miranda, who travels from Cuba to Miami to become a star of the stage.
Featuring all new songs from Miranda, Vivo is a thrilling story about gathering your courage, finding family in unlikely friends, and the belief that music can open you to new worlds.
The Sony-animated film will drop on August 6.
Chip ‘n’ Dale Park Life – Wednesday, August 4
The non-verbal French-American series combines classic-style cartoon comedy with contemporary storytelling.
It follows two tiny, wisecracking troublemaking chipmunks, Chip and Dale, trying to live the good life in a big city park while having giant-sized, sky-high adventures.
These ultimate underdogs are joined by iconic Disney characters including Pluto, Butch and others as they face down bullies great and small.
Disney The Owl House (S2) – Wednesday, August 18
The show debuted last year with the plot revolving around Luz Noceda, who ends up in a fantasy realm called the Boiling Isles, where she becomes a witch’s apprentice and a series of adventures twists ensue.
Following the success of the first season, self-assured teenager Luz is back for more witch training.
Five new episodes for the show’s second season will be ready to stream on Wednesday, August 18.
What If…? – Wednesday, August 11
Based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name – What If…? explores what would happen if major moments from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) occurred differently.
Featuring many fan favourites including Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and Karen Gillan returning to reprise their roles from the Marvel film series.
The first episode will be available to stream on Disney Plus from Wednesday, August 11. Marvel has kept many details of the show under wraps, so fans can likely expect lots of surprise appearances and storylines over the course of the ten episodes.
Disney Junior Chicken Squad – Wednesday, August 11
Inspired by Doreen Cronin’s popular children’s books, the series follows a trio of young chicken siblings – Coop, Sweetie, Little Boo as well as their retired search and rescue dog mentor, Captain Tully.
They team up on problem-solving adventures to help their animal friends, while modelling what it means to be good community helpers and discovering the joy in assisting others.
Seven new episodes are confirmed to drop on Disney plus on Wednesday, August 11.
Disney Junior Fancy Nancy (S2) – Wednesday, August, 4
From her vast vocabulary to her creative attire, six-year-old Nancy is one to look out for.
A high-spirited young girl whose imagination and enthusiasm transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary – showcases it’s important to make the most of each day and encourage others to do the same.
The series voice cast includes How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan and Modern Family’s Rob Riggle.
